CALL TO ARTS! SUMMIT VSongwriterCommunities ShowcaseThis very special Acoustic Communities Showcase is a vital part of the Artists Helping Artists (Aha!) CALL TO ARTS! SUMMIT V and it highlights top acoustic songwriters and performers in California and around the country. This showcase is directed by Jimi Yamagishi of LA SongNet and features songwriters from various songwriting and arts networking organizations in California and including LA SongNet, West Coast Songwriters Association, Artists Helping Artists (Aha!), Just Plain Folks, Songsalive! and others. Each organization puts together 1 to 1 ˝ hour showcase of their most compelling and visionary songwriters. Any established songwriting or arts networking association that has acoustic songwriters and performers and is interested in participating in (or has not yet confirmed to participate in) the Acoustic Communities Showcase or future showcases at the CALL TO ARTS! SUMMITS should send an email to Glenn Horton at CalltoArts@cs.com with info on your organization, where it is based, etc. and request details on how your organization could be involved. Songwriters Open Mic Sessionon Saturday evening June 25th, 2005.A large Open Mic session is the final portion of the Acoustic Communities Showcase and is scheduled from 6 to 8pm. This portion is wide open to any and all individual songwriters AND spoken word poets who have compelling, visionary songs and pieces and who wish close out the summit on the Acoustic Stage. This is for individual performers not full bands. (You’ll probably be able to have a backup singer or side person or two max.) Five (5) minutes maximum per song. If we get through everyone then you can come back up for a second song. To sign up to perform during the open mic portion of the Acoustic Community Showcase send an email requesting to do so to Jimi Yamagishi at CalltoArts@cs.com. You will be placed on the list in order of your request. Those who are not present when their name is called will go to the end of the list or may be dropped from the list. Once you sign up, you will receive an acknowledgement of your being on the Open Mic Roster. These names will be delivered to Jimi Yamagishi prior to the summit for calling during the Open Mic portion.
